New Kiss and Ride!

August, 2015

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are preparing to implement our new traffic plan which was developed in collaboration with school staff, the PWCS Offices of Risk Management, Transportation, Facilities Services and the Associate Superintendent for Central Elementary Schools. As always our primary goal is safety. In addition, we would like to reduce the Kiss and Ride waiting along Benita Fitzgerald Drive. Below I have provided an aerial view of the traffic pattern for Kiss and Ride. Thank you for your patience with this process and for your continued cooperation.
Upon entering the parking lot, parents will turn right and form a line. Please be aware of the one way flow of traffic. We have provided arrows for your assistance. The first car will wait at the sign that reads, “Parent Waiting Line.” After direction from school staff, cars will proceed to the front entrance (Door 1) to unload in the morning and load in the afternoon. This has to be a steady flow for unloading and loading. It cannot be a standing zone.
At the direction of school staff, cars will proceed through the parking lot and exit onto Benita Fitzgerald Drive. Please know that school staff will be visible as they guide and direct this new flow of Kiss and Ride cars.
We need your help with additional safety support.
o Please do not arrive at the school to unload until 8:45 (15 minutes before bell time) or load until 3:30 (10 minutes before bell time).
o Drivers must remain in their vehicles while parked.
o Please do not pass other vehicles in line.
o Please do not block any designated crosswalks or fire hydrants.
If you should have additional safety related comments or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
